Slide Effect Presentation Creator Released.

Hi there,

As you seem to be interested in Powerpoint/Presentation software, I post a small message about my new software: Slide Effect Presentation Creator..

Slide Effect is a software tool to create presentations or slide-show in a few mouse click with really advanced effects to impress your audience.

It uses the power of your computer to display enhanced effects or transitions.

For more information or to download the free trial, please go to http://www.slide-effect.com .

(you can also contact me by email or by PM on this forum)

Have a nice day

Too easy

As regular readers here will know, I do presentation skills training for a living, in the UK - and one of the things I regularly bash my head against on our training days is this: Powerpoint makes it too easy to create a rubbish presentation.

By making it easy, coupled with people's common fear of presenting, the temptation is to get any-old-stuff down. Ironically, we find that people's presentation quality goes up if we make them work harder in designing the presentation in the first place. They think more about what they need to say and the best way of saying it.

I'm not saying I don't like your software - I wouldn't know, I can't use it (without a bit of effort) because I don't use Windows as an opperating system (by default) for all the old and well worn reasons - I'm just saying sometimes there's "too much of a good thing"! Making things easier for people sometimes doesn't always mean they do it better.

As a friend of mine once observed: you can give people a scalple and call it a Do It Yourself Brain Surgery Kit, but that doesn't make it a good idea.

On the other hand it's probably good for people's confidence - and that can't be a bad thing.

Good luck with it.

Simon

Hi SimonR,

thanks for your comment, it is appreciated.

I agree with your definition of a good presentation.

My software is all about effects/transitions and eye candy, it won't help to create an interesting presentation if the content is boring.

But, in many cases like, party, wedding or shows effects and eye candy are necessary to catch the audience attention (and sometime more important than the real content).

I'm not talking about business meetings, where the content is much more important than the eye candy. That's not the market I'm targeting: Powerpoint does the job quiet well in this area.

Anyway thanks for the interesting comment.

Ah-ha!

If you're talking about just the fun stuff and eye-candy then I've got no issues what so ever! (Except that I'm not 100% sure PowerPoint actually does a good job! )

Hi Simon,

Well, to be honest, I cannot say it took off like I hoped, but it is ok.

All my customers seems to be very happy with Slide Effect and I work to enhance the software everytime: it has many, many more features than on the first version.

The real difficulty for me, right now is to have web/press coverage: The market is overcrowded with poor quality slideshow application, and the other part is too much Powerpoint oriented.

(Hidden message: A review on a website like PresentationHelper.co.uk would help me a lot! )

Thanks for your interest anyway and happy new year 2009!
