Ask them to finish off simple (and obvious) poem themselves. Then ask them to tell you what they put... then pointedly ignore the suggestions from the girls saying something like "Sorry but as you're a woman your input isn't valid".

Just before they riot, explain to them what you're doing. Ask them how they feel about it and tell them about the first female writer etc.... by the time you get to the boring bits (the facts ) they should be up in arms.
