Well, I hope it was not the software I got. But today my laptop will not boot up. Something about software conflicts. I am going to email the company and HP and see if anything can be done about this.

You can have a try at this.
1) Open your Laptop and choose to get into normal Safe Mode.
To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
2) Open the Windows installation direction. It is usually located at c:\Windows.
3) And then search a file named “StartOpen.sys”.
If you can’t find one, then it is not a problem of the product.
If you find one, please delete it and then reboot your Laptop.
4) If you are not allowed to delete this file, please rename it and then reboot your Computer and get into safe mode too. And then delete the .sys file.
