Two powerpoint files do not match
I have my template setup all my fonts are perfect everything aligned then someone sends me their powerpoint file and I have to add pages from theirs into mine and then all chaos lets lose as soon as I insert their pages into mine. There fonts sizes become huge there text changes color and nothing matches.
On there presentation everything is perfect, on my presetation everything is perfect, but when I try insert sections of theirs to mine everything goes crazy and vice versa!!! PLEASE someone tell me what is happening? Why does it seem the two don't match .

Unfortunately this is one of the quirks of PowerPoint - that both presentations use different templates. When you copy slides from one presentation to another they just get out of synch. This usually applies to fonts, colours and backfground colours. Unfortunately there is not too much you can do about this - except to go through the presentation changing the fonts and colours. This is a labourious process and one that takes time and requires a bit of a technical expertise. There are three options that you have 1. Go through the merged presentation and change the fonts, colours etc until they match 2. Get someone else to do it for you. This usually involves paying someone. If you type "presentation" into Google - on the right hand side you will see a list of companies who may be able to help. 3. Hyperlink the presentations together. Just build a button on your last slide that says "link to next presentation" The process to add the hyperlink is Insert > Hyperlink > Link to existing file or web page and select the appropriate file. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help |

Keep source formatting
I don't know if this'll help but i was having a similar problem when copying and pasting from one presentation to another. After you have pasted an object or some text a small clipboard icon appears at the bottom right hand corner of it, click this and select keep source formatting and the object or text will revert back to how it looked in the original presentation.

The solution
To merge two presentations you need to
save the file on your hard drive click "insert" click "slides from files" click "browse" find the file on your hard drive select all the slides that you want to use, but here's the most important point, CHECK THE BOX KEEP SOURCE FORMATTING then click on "insert" All the files will be inserted with there existing format. They will not have the same format as the rest of your presentation. If you want everything to match, you need to go into slide master. The other option is select everything on a slide from the presentation that you want to copy from, copy, and paste into a blank slide in the presentation that you want to copy into. This will now have your existing background, but takes a lot of time if you have a lot of slides. You have to select keep original formatting in the little box that appears after the paste. If anyone knows how to make it so that it will always keep original formatting, I'd like to know how to turn that on. |

"Keep source formatting" does not work
In my version of PowerPoint SP3 2002, even if you select "keep source Formatting" when pasting slides, powerpoint insists on changing the font size. This happens also if you use "insert from files" to import slides.
Infuriating. |

Does not work here either!
I also try to do "keep source formatting" and it simply does not work! I am using PowerPoint 2007 ...
I do stem-by step as in their stupid HELP but at the end, after all steps are done and KEEP SOURCE FORMATTING is checked, it changes the formatting nontheless! Depressing! |

Alternative workaround
Something else that you can do - not perfect but it works is to take a screen print of the slide that you wish to import (Whilst showing the presentation on your PC, on the slide you want press Alt + Print Scrn).
The in the presentation that you wish to import to on a blank slide press Ctrl + V - resize the image and voila. Plus points - its quick and retains everything 'as is' Minus points - do it for two many slides and you presentaiton will become big (MB wise), and you can not edirt the content. Good luck. |
