Unable to insert videos in PPT 2007

Greetings,

I am tryin to insert MPEG and WMV videos into a PPT presentation being prepared on 2007, using XP.

Whether I drag and drop a video file or use the Insert command, when I atempt to play the video, I get a blank.

I know this should work as I have seen it done. Is there something really obvious that I am missing?

Thank you!

It is really very simple. Create a new page, select the layout on the picture (in Home > Layout), click on the movie reel symbol and navigate to your video file, double click on that and you are done.

It's not really simple.

Two things to be aware of in particular:

You (or others) must have the correct video codec
The path to the video should be fairly short.

One way to be fairly sure about the codec is to run your vid through Windows Media Encoder to convert to a standard codec WMV
Make sure my video plays in PowerPoint[/url]

You are right John. Forgot that part. All my movies are .wmv, that's why I never pay attention to it. A conversion can also be done with WMM provided you have the input codecs for WMM. You should, however, watch what WMM is doing. It can ruin your quality if you don't set it to the right quality level.
