Do fly in effect with no predetermined order?
I've tried to search for an answer on this, but all I get are posts explaining the typical fly-in effect steps which I know.
What I want to do (for teaching using a graphic organizer) deals with several boxes that I want to fly in but not in a predetermined order. Rather I want to fly it in AFTER students have responded to particular verbal prompts and questions during the lesson. For example, if I have five boxes with information about main ideas (like Setting, Plot, Character, Theme, and Language) I want to be able to start a discussion about a book and when the discussion leads to one of the main ideas, I want to be able to fly it in. So in one class I might want to fly in "Character" first, but 45 minutes later in another class, we might gravitate to "Theme" first. Is there a way to create clickable points, so I can fly in just the item I want to fly in regardless of the order in which I click it? Complicated I know, but there is something powerful about letting a classroom discussion evolve naturally and then summarizing a main point and having the students write it down AT THE MOMENT OF "REALILZATION" (so to speak) as opposed to taking all the notes first and then having discussion as a separate process. |
