Job Interview
Hello,
I have phase two of a competitive interview next week in hopes of becoming an admissions recruiter for a creative school. I need to give a 3 min presentation to a group about any topic. My instructions read that my topic choice should, "show I can inform and sell the benefits of a product or service, can engage and interact with the audience, and are the best candidate for the position." The catch is my "audience" will be my competition. My question is, which type of topic would be more effective? Something very specific that I am well versed in, say maybe a Fixed Annuity, or something more general that everyone can relate to. The topic of Recycling comes to mind. I feel like selling a fixed annuity to a group comprised of people that probably aren't in the market for such a product and happen to be my competition would feel boring and not very engaging. On the other hand, something like Recycling could seem to be a cop out since almost everyone in my area recycles, and it would be more re-enforcing what we learned in grade school rather than "informing and selling the benefits of the service." I am familiar with presenting and am well acquainted with the basic rules you teach here. I am just having a hard time landing on a topic and am asking for some advice. Thanks! |
