My Funeral Service

I am in the unfortunate postition of only having a few months left to live and have been trying to make my wifes future life as simple as possible by getting all the man type jobs done (20 years into 2 months) I will not see my 60th birhthday. Currenlty it is ironic but I am fit and relatively healthy.
I am trying to write as much of the sermon as possible and I am struggling ( I am an engineer so things are a little practical sounding)

The poem All Is Well;
By Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918)
Canon of St Paul's Cathedral
Does echo a number of my sentiments towards my widow to be and that is the theme I would like to pursue as it is now her future I need to think of.
Do you have any speeches that could assist this type of poem, although I think it says most of what I would like.
Reference to support from friends in the months following is something I am trying to fit in but with difficulty.

I am looking to write most of the sermon for my funeral.

The second item is for me to prepare a similar 'sermon' for when my wife/widow is in the same postiion, hopefully in a healthy number of years time!

Thank you

John Foster

John,

If the poem "All Is Well" expresses everything you want to say, what you could do, is to paraphrase the poem.

Go through the poem line by line, but put it into your own words and pad it out a bit. Then, at the end, have the poem itself read out.

A sort of "this is how he felt", followed by a "I've found a poem that sums up how he felt".

Hope this helps.
