Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep - new version
I've written a middle verse for this classic funeral poem, and hope that it might prove of some help to people looking for the perfect poem:
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. Do not stand at my grave and mourn. I am the dew-flecked grass at dawn. Where tranquil oceans meet the land I am the footprints in the sand To guide you through the weary day. I am still here; I'll always stay. When you wake up to morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. © 2007 Lucie Storrs www.thelightbeyond.com On The Light Beyond website (which has just launched), there's a little movie based around this poem, too; I hope it brings some comfort. Wishing you peace, Lucie Storrs |

Hi there!
Of course you can use this version; I don't mind who uses it but please keep the copyright notice and link to my site underneath the poem... it's only fair! Glad you like it. All the best, Lucie |

ode to nan
hi Lucie. Was just wondering if I could get your opinion on this. My nan died yesterday and we are having a service on Monday. My mum wants me to read it out but i'm not to sure?
Nan We sat and watched you for a while With tearful eyes we tried to smile Knowing that it would be our last We’d think of memories from the past. Although its time for you to go There’s something that I want you to know You’re now our angel up above Sunshine skies filled with love With manicured nails and painted toes You’ll help us out with all our woes. You fought long and hard with all your will But now its time to be with bill. Now your at peace its good to say We’ll live to fight another day So now its time to say goodnight Because we know the time is right. In memory of a Mother, Sister, Nan and friend Time will heal and hearts will mend. |
