Alcoholic MUM's suicide

my really good friends mum hung herself this morning. her husband of one year found her. she was in her early 50's and unwell from years of drinking. her children left behind from previous relationships are 2 girls and a boy in their early to mid 20's and 5 young grand children under ten. I'm pretty sure the majority of memories are slightly unpleasent due to the history of drinking, i'm really unsure where to start! the family is in total shock as she was in recovery from a successful tumor removal. any advice or tips on a starting point would be appreciated!
