Help Desperately Needed - Eulogy for Mother

My mother is presently dying of cancer and may last another month. My sisters and I have discussed the funeral and I have been nominated to give the eulogy on behalf of the family.

My dilemma is that none of us were close to our parents, we are from a dysfunctional family and I am finding this task sooo difficult.

I have all the basic data about mum but we never knew mum the person. To even talk about her as a mother is difficult.

Please I hope someone can help me because this is tearing me up inside. I can't stand in front of everyone and lie about her mothering but nor do I want just to state basic facts about her either. Mum had no interests, only a couple of friends and has been on her own for the past 20+ years since my step father died. She always talks about things in general but nothing personal.

hi i am so sorry to hear this, um i dont know what to say but just say that she never let people down she always would be there for people if they needed her but she always kept her distance. she thought the world of u & ur family and you are upset aswell as glad that she has gone as she isnt suffering no more.
